Learn how using digital basemaps can help to build connected communities

Industry experts outline the benefits of linking economic and social development with location data, combined with AI and machine learning, to map and optimise urbanisation and infrastructure.

Ordnance Survey has used artificial intelligence and machine learning technology to map the complex situation in the Zambian city of Lusaka.

Lusaka has areas known as an ‘informal settlement,’ which can be difficult to manage without accurate location data. OS has helped create a digital basemap, providing a starting point upon which the Zambian government can optimise planning, developed better connected services, and improve citizens’ quality of life.
